Common specifications and models of LED chips

Common specifications and models of LED chips

0603, 0805, 1210, 3528, 5050 refer to the size of surface mount SMD LEDs. For example, 0603 refers to a length of 0.06 inches and a width of 0.03 inches. But note that the 3528 and 5050 units are metric. Here's a breakdown of those specs:

0603: Converted to metric, it is 1608, which means that the length of the LED element is 1.6mm and the width is 0.8mm. The industry abbreviation is 1608, and the imperial name is 0603.

0805: Converted to metric system, it is 2012, which means that the length of the LED element is 2.0mm and the width is 1.2mm. The industry abbreviation is 2112, and the imperial name is 0805.

1210: Converted to metric, it is 3528, which means that the length of the LED element is 3.5mm and the width is 2.8mm. The industry abbreviation is 3528, and the imperial name is 1210.

3528: This is the metric name, which means that the length of the LED element is 3.5mm and the width is 2.8mm. Industry abbreviation 3528.

5050: This is the metric system name, which means that the length of the LED element is 5.0mm and the width is 5.0mm. Industry abbreviation 5050.

How to distinguish the positive and negative poles of SMD LED lamp beads

Many packages, such as some 0603, 0805 and other packaged SMD LEDs, will have a green "T" symbol at the bottom. One side of the "T" is the positive electrode, and the other side is the negative electrode. Some SMD LEDs will be marked with a silk screen similar to a triangle symbol, so the bottom edge of the triangle is close to the positive electrode, and the top corner is close to the negative electrode. The lead of the light-emitting diode is generally longer in the positive pole, and the lead in the negative pole is relatively short. Observe the shape of the two lead wires in the tube body from the side, the smaller one is the positive electrode, and the larger one is the negative electrode. Adjust the multimeter to "ohm x1", when the diode glows, the red test lead is connected to the positive end of the SMDLED, and the black test lead is connected to the negative end of the SMDLED. Because the LED turn-on threshold is about 1.5-1.8V. It is possible that the voltage supplied by the DMM cannot start it. So still look at the mark. SMD light-emitting diodes, the green dot is the negative electrode, and the opposite is the positive electrode.
